Philosophy of the St. Rose School
St. Rose School believes in:
S - Spiritual focus in our prayers and work
T - Teamwork between students, teachers, and families
R - Respect and Responsibility in our daily lives
O - Opportunity for each child to achieve
S - Scholarship in our studies
E - Excellence in all we do!
The educational efforts at St. Rose School are unique because we integrate religious truths and values into our curriculum. As a school community, we realize that the degree of our success depends upon how fully we are living our faith life. We recognize the need for God’s grace as we develop the capabilities of our students. We strive to support and nurture our students and their families as they grow in their Catholic faith.
Because of our philosophy, St. Rose School operates according to the following educational norms:
- Learning is Enjoyable - Children can experience the joy of learning, the adventure involved in the pursuit of knowledge and the satisfaction of achieving one’s educational goal.
- Self-Discipline is Central - Children are encouraged to acquire self-discipline skills.
- Mutual Respect - The students are provided with experiences which give them an environment of respect for teachers, parents, other students, and those who care for them, i.e. police, pastor, nurse, volunteer.
- Learning Requires Structure - There is always so much to discover that there is never time to waste; while the individual child is always important, so also are the instructional needs of all the children who make up each grade.
- Special Educational Needs - The gifted as well as the disabled receive whatever time and skills they require along with assignments that fit their individual goals and capabilities.
- Inclusions of Parents (married/separated/divorced/single) - The parents are equal partners with the school staff in their children’s formation. Parents are kept informed and their counsel is sought in a variety of ways.
- Alternative Form of Education - Small class size makes it possible for staff and parents to cooperate according to the norms described. Daily instruction is in the faith, values, and practices of the Catholic community, with the experience of these in the life of the school, and in the liturgy and spirituality of the Catholic Church.
