fundraising

Fundraising is an important activity at St. Rose – the fundraisers throughout the year provide income that goes directly to school operations.

SCRIP
This is a program that enables our school to make money through our regular every day purchases.  We carry a regular stock of gift certificates available at a variety of stores, restaurants, etc.  They can be purchased once a week either through completing an order form that comes home on Friday and returning it with your child Monday or there are several available on hand after Mass on Sundays and Wednesdays.  For every gift certificate purchased the school makes on average between 2 and 6 percent profit.  The profits from this fundraiser go to both the school and the CCD program.

Apple Pie Cooks

APPLE PIE SALE
The Apple Pie Sale is one of the most profitable and tasty fundraisers of the year. Each year we ask parents for donations of supplies to bake apple pies; several groceries also donate supplies, and apples are picked from various sources.  Parents and students meet on two fall weekends for an extended peeling, dough mixing and baking party – pies are made by the dozens. The St. Rose pies are very popular and can be ordered freshly baked or frozen.

MARATHON
This is a great city-wide opportunity for our students to take on an active role in sponsoring their school.  The children pass around a pledge sheet and obtain pledges to sponsor them in a marathon walk.  The school sets a goal each year that we try to reach.  Profits from this go to the school.

POPCORN SALES
Popcorn is available for the children to purchase each Wednesday as a morning snack following Mass.  Profits from this fundraiser go to the Home & School Associations for the programs and events they sponsor.

SPRING CARNIVAL
This is a carnival open to the community.  It includes games, bingo, food and activities such as Cakewalk, Stuffed animal walk and a Silent Auction.  It is at the end of the school year; inside and outside of the school.  The profits from this go toward the school endowment and to the Home & School Association.

HOGSHEAD STREET CARNIVAL
One relatively new fundraiser is a street carnival set up as part of Proctor’s Hogshead Festival. This has proven to be a very popular event, and gives children and parents another set of activities to be involved in following the parade.

BOOK FAIR
We offer a book fair to our families each year for one week.  It is open to the children during school hours and to families before and after Mass as well.  Profits from this go to both the school’s general needs and the library.

RAFFLE
We have a raffle each year.  Our children sell raffle tickets to family, friends and neighbors for various prizes.  These prizes have been donated by businesses within our community and the profits go to the school’s general needs.

CELL PHONE/PRINTER CARTRIDGE DONATIONS
This is a free and easy fundraiser - used cell phones, and empty laser and inkjet printer cartridges can be donated to the school - they can be dropped off at the St. Rose School office.

POP CANS
We encourage all families to save their pop cans for recycling.  We have bins on site at school to do this.  The profits we gain from recycling pop cans is set aside to support the playground  and to aid the Vacation Bible School.

Corporate Donor Programs

LABELS FOR EDUCATION (Campbells)
Each year we collect Campbell’s Labels for Education.  We have a donation bin inside the school.  The children are able to bring in their labels any time.  We save these labels and periodically redeem them for free equipment and merchandise for our school.

GIVE EM FIVE (Kemps)
Sponsored by Kemps, this promotion donates 5¢ for each stickered milk cap or proof-of-purchase symbol. They are also accepting applications for their Extraordinary Student program - nominations are due Feb 15, 2007. Check out the details here.
