Facilities

Playground

In summer 2005, St. Rose replaced the old playground with a new complex of slides, swings, bars, and activity areas. The effort culminated a year of planning and fundraising. David Maki, a St. Rose alumnus, coordinated the installation of drainage, landscape cloth, and mulch as part of a Eagle Scout merit badge initiative. The new playground is greatly appreciated by the school and the community.

Library

The St. Rose Library strives to have a number of books for all levels of elementary reading, from picture books to early readers to more advanced readers. Lately we have been acquiring some new fiction books through donations from School and Parish families and through the semi-annual book fairs that we have each year. We have quite a few Newberry and Caldecott award winning books along with many classic children's literature books. We have a lot of older picture books that are very unique and different from what kids have on their shelves today, almost a trip through history.

We have a large number of non-fiction books available to curious children too. Very popular with the children K-1 through 6th are the non-fiction sets of Animal books and the books about the Fifty States. These come in handy for the annual reports that 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades do at the end of the year. We have recently had some very generous donations of newer adult level non-fiction books on various topics. Please contact the Librarian for info about these if interested.

There are several volunteers that help with library tasks throughout the school year. We have a computer catalog of "most" of the books we have, and we interact with the students weekly. If you would be interested in helping with the library, please contact the school office and leave a name and phone number.

Computer Laboratory

St. Rose has a full computer laboratory with 20+ networked PCs. All grades have supervised access to computer facilities, and computers play an important role in research and presentation development. Students learn basic computer operations, including elementary word processing, the use of "Paint" type graphics programs, and specialized education software.
