Will my child participate in the school Mass even if they are not Catholic?

Yes.  Our K-6 grade school children participate in the weekly Wednesday Mass.  Each week a different grade hosts Mass. The children participate in the welcoming, readings, prayers, gift offering, and choir.  All families are invited and encouraged to attend.  If you and your child are non-Catholic, you may come forward to receive a blessing at the same time the Eucharist is shared.

Yes.  We have a music specialist who comes to St. Rose twice a week. Two evening concerts are planned each year.  The classroom teachers lead phy-ed classes and do an incredible job of it.  We have special education services available to our children such as Title I and speech therapy.  If need be, our children may receive the necessary services at Bay View Elementary during their school day.

Currently our class sizes range from 7 to 21 students.  Our hope is to increase enrollment to 20 students per grade.

Yes. Children at St. Rose are able to participate in the local sport programs, and a majority do.  It is great to have all the children of the Proctor area join together for the purpose of extracurricular activities!  We also offer Destination Imagination, scouting opportunities within the Proctor troops, Spirit Mountain Ski Program, and after-school piano lessons at St. Rose.

Do families participate in fundraisers?

You bet - fundraisers are important to our school budget and programs.  In the fall, an apple pie fundraiser extends over two consecutive weekends.  We also have a Non-Public School Marathon.  Additional fundraisers include a magazine sale, spring carnival, raffle, SCRIP fundraising program and 'free fundraisers' including Boxtops for Education, aluminum can collection, Campbell Soup labels and others.  Please note:  Pre-Kindergarten families are invited, but not required, to participate in most fundraisers.

Are there committees or opportunities for me as a parent?

We offer a Home & School Association for parents. This is similar to PTA.  Our School board is partly composed of school parents.  We have many volunteer opportunities including playground aide, lunchroom aide, teacher appreciation, book fair, grandparent's day, end-of-the-year picnic, plus more!

Are parents required to transport their child to and from school?

No, the public school will transport your child (including pre-kindergartners) to St. Rose if you are within the Proctor/ Bay View elementary district, considering the proximity-to-school requirements. We also have a bus to provide transportation to most students living outside the district.

What are the school hours?

School is in session from 8:55 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Those children transported by Proctor School buses are picked up at St. Rose prior to the dismissal of the public school children.

WOW, this is a great web site. Who made it?

St. Rose parent George Host designed and maintains the site, but drew many materials from the St. Rose Handbook and other sources. The site is rather new, and we are always looking for contributed text and pictures. We are particularly appreciative of Jane Reed at www.red-pebble.com, who assisted in graphic design, template development and reality checks for the site.

If you have any comments or contributions for the site, please email George a note!
