News for May                                         What's for Lunch?

St. Rose Raffle  -  Please watch for your tickets.  They will be in this week’s Friday folder!  They sell for $5 per ticket.  Our drawing will by on Thursday, June 4 at the school picnic.  
Grandparent’s Day- Wednesday, April 29 (and April 30 for T/Th PreK Program).  We will begin with Mass-on Wednesday- and end with our school talent show.  Invitations are being sent out to Grandparents from the office, but you may want to personally invite them to come join us as we celebrate our Grandparents and loved ones. 

Late Start- Tuesday, May 12  Classes begin at 10:50AM

No School - Memorial Day Monday, May 25th.

Proctor City Wide Clean-up Day –Look for more information to be announced in class. Gloves will be provided, please bring old shoes/rubber boots to wear.  We suggest wind pants (or similar) to wear over uniform pants. 

Spring Concert - Thursday, May 14 - 6:30PM.  Children are to arrive by 6:15PM.  Children should wear dress clothing, no blue jeans! Social time immediately following the concert.

Summer clean-up - The following have signed their Volunteer Agreement to help, we would like you to start the week of June 1.  Clean up will include cleaning walls, windows and any other end of year cleaning.  Please call the school office to confirm your help:  Mark Sundstrom, Matt Paulson, Dennis Francisco, Rebecca Thelen Brunfelt, Paula Castleman, Shelley Vanneste, and Chantel Hicks.  Anyone else who would like to volunteer is welcome to join us as this is a large project and many hands are needed before we can close up the school for the summer.

$crip - Remember our scrip program when thinking about your spring fix up and repair needs!  We have Proctor Builders, Menards, and Home Depot (to name a few). Do you have weddings, graduations, Mother’s Day, or Father’s Day gifts yet? What a great way to use Scrip! Think about utilizing it when you make these purchases or give directly as a gift.  Those new grads will love Subway, McDonald’s, Walmart, and gas cards.

Teachers’ Appreciation - May 3 -9.  We are looking for help all that week. Contact the school office to volunteer your time or send in a note with your child. 

Dress code - Beginning May 1, Khaki shorts may be worn to school.  Shorts may be no shorter than 2 inches above the kneeNO SHORTS ON MASS DAYS! 

Library Books - Please remember to bring back all library books by May 18-19 (11-15 for PreK). After May 29, we will be sending notes with overdue book titles home. Reminder:  Lost books require $5.00 to cover replacement costs. 
                                                             
Home & School Meeting - The last meeting for this school year will be held Tues., May 19 at 5:30PM.  Everyone is welcome.

School Board Meeting - The last school board meeting for this year will be on Wed., May 20 at 6:30 PM.

Pre-Kindergarten - Last days of K-1 are Wednesday-Friday, May 20-22.  See you at the end of the year picnic, held on Thurs., June 4 at 12:00PM.  Please plan on joining us. Everyone is invited!

Box tops - Keep saving those box tops over the summer.  You can drop them off in the box at the front of the church during the summer months.

Kemps Nickels for Schools- Keep saving those milk tops.  You can drop them off over the summer in the bin by the front doors of the church.

LOOKING AHEAD:  Next fall we will be in need of a coordinator for our Box tops, Campbell’s Soup label, ink cartridges, and cell phone fundraisers.  If interested and looking for a great way to give back to St. Rose please call the school office at 624-0818.  St. Rose would like to thank Amy Heikes for volunteering her time and talent for many years with these fundraisers for our school.

Pop Cans- As summer approaches and family get-togethers and parties are more common, remember to save those cans.  Remember, we have a trailer by the kitchen door that you can deposit the cans at your convenience.

Thank you to the Senior Men’s group for hauling our trailer of aluminum cans!  Even though the cost of aluminum is down it still adds up, we deposited $109.08 !

Rice Bowl- St. Rose School families have donated more than $51.65 toward our Lenten Rice Bowl & Lenten Lunch during lent.  Way to go!

Science Fair- What great projects everyone presented!  Congratulations to this year’s place winners for the science fair.  See the bulletin board by the church doors for the place holders in each grade.  Special Thanks to our judges: Hollie Provost, Mike Finn, Eric Olson, Pete Wirtanen and George Host.

Summer Camps-  Looking for a good summer camp?  Check out the Bulletin Board for registration forms at the church entrance.

Pre-Kindergarten Registration- We have several openings still available in both of our 08-09 pre-kindergarten sessions.  If you have younger children or if you know of someone who has a child that will be 4 years old by September 1, encourage them to get their registrations in while there is still room.

Kindergarten-Sixth Grade- We are still accepting enrollment for all grades.  Spread the word about our great school and watch our school family grow!  Registration forms can be found at the school office or by calling 624-0818.
